On Sunday 5th April 2009 a team of enthusiastic runners (including 1 of the Trust’s staff members – Lisa Brook) took part in the ‘Brooks 20th Paddock Wood Half Marathon’ to raise funds for our Humanitarian Aid fund.
This was it, the moment of truth…all the months of training through the winter…finally I would see if I had done enough! It was a beautiful sunny day as around 2000 runners lined up and prepared to run the 13.1 mile course. Before I knew it we had started and off we ran being cheered on by lots of friendly faces. The course was very scenic as it ran through the countryside of Paddock Wood which some how made the run easier and…enjoyable even! I won’t lie…it was tough…but I did it; my time was 2 hours 38 minutes…not too bad for my first half-marathon.
I could hardly move for the next 2 days but have managed to raise £182. Would I do it again? Maybe in time the pain will dull enough for me to consider…but not yet!
