During May/June 2008 Saturation Trust partnered with a charity in Tanzania, namely Tumaini na Upendo.
A team of ten volunteers was sent to Ilemela (an extremely underprivileged area) for three weeks to both fund and assist with the building of a ‘sewing room’, which has been set up as a local sewing business. Sewing machines and over-lockers were donated, and the facility is being used to train widows within the community to become seamstresses, thereby providing an income for their family.
The team also ran a Primary Health Care Clinic where the locals were educated in basic hygiene, water purification, etc. Over 300 people were seen and their basic health needs met. A few people required ongoing treatment which Saturation Trust continues to fund. Donated clothing, toys, toiletries and other essentials were handed out to meet specific needs. Books and other educational resources were donated to a local primary school.
